| | My first day back in a while because I had some stuff done so I couldn't run. I did a 1.5 warmup, and did 1x1000. I finished at about exactly where I was supposed to with 4:55ish. Felt FANTASTIC to be out again.
|
| | Oh my goodness!! It felt sooooo nice to be back!!! Between a couple proceedures and some injuries, I have only ran twice since Nike! So I just did the D.I. loop today. It was super hard, but I'm excited to get back into the routine. I'm looking forward to upping my mileage and getting back to where I left off.
| |
| | Easy 3 out to Arctic Circle. I was super duper sore after and stretching after felt FANTASTIC!!
|
| | 3 miles out to Arctic Cat (the took Hot Nails down so we renamed the run) with 8xstriders. All the girls ran together and it felt fantastic.
|
| | Trail run. I started with the girls, but didn't keep up very long. I tried to keep someone always in my sight. I caught up to Taylor B. and we ran a lot of it together, but the trail got kinda confusing and we were off the trail a little...okay a lot. But we say the girls when they were on their way back and so we just jumped back in with them. I might not have gone exactly 4 miles, but it was pretty close.
|
| | I ran to and from the old man hills, and did 2x400s. I've been working back up, but it's still super duper hard for me. I feel like if I keep pushing and working myself, both mentally and physically, I'll soon be back up to a comfortable level.
|
| | 3 miles to Sandberg's, 8xstriders afterward.
|
| | Harts warm and 3x1000s. My times decreased A TON! I got a 4:38, 4:50, and 5:07. I tried to hang in till the end, but I couldn't breathe and felt so dizzy I thought I was going to throw up. I went and sat in the school for a couple minutes just trying to catch my breath. Weights after.
| |
| | Trail run Tuesday! I loved this trail! I had a great time and it felt so nice.
|
| | Felt nice. Tons better than last week. 2x800s on the Old Man Hills. Weights after.
| |
| | harts warm, 3x1000s. I had to leave early because I went to piano, so I couldn't get all 4 in. I haven't been feeling well at all lately. Not just at xc but just during the day too. But I am just trying to keep pushing myself during my workouts so that I can keep progressing.
|
| | Chuckwalla trail run. I felt fantastic! This is one of the best trails ever. I enjoyed it a lot.
| |
| | easy 3 down to Arctic Cat with 8x1000 striders after.
| |
| | Harts warm. 4x1000s. I felt a lot better than I have been lately. I hit my goal time everytime. I feel like I'm getting back into the groove. I've had to take it easy for a while, but I've been feeling better so I'm back up to full workouts :)

PV Mile Time Trial (1 Miles) 00:07:05 | | So I didn't do near as well as I would've hoped. But I gave it my all, and so I guess that's all that matters. I really hurt my legs though. They feel really tight and are giving me much grief.
|
| | Harts warm/cool with 10x200s. I felt generally pretty well today. Didn't do as well on the 200s as I would've hoped, but they were still good.
So 5.5 miles, today. Gave a good general idea for about how the 9k is going to feel next week. I'm pretty excited to run it.
|
| | 4 mile trail run. It felt really nice. I ran with Liz, and we kinda got lost a lottle bit, we probably went about an extra half mile. We were so happy and releived when we got back on the trail and saw some other runners up aways.
|
| | So I'm running the 9K Dogtown race next week, so I decided to go for a longer run today to help get a good feel for the distance. Megan came to my house about 3ish and we headed out. It was a lot easier than I'd anticipated, but we were going at a roughly average 10 min/mile pace, so we took it a bit easier. But it felt SOOOOOO nice! I'm so excited to race next week.
|
| | I was out of town so I couldn't come to the practice, but I did go on a very intense hike that involved a lot of climbing and scaling rocks.
|
| | 1.5 warm up and cool down, 10x200s. Felt nice. 200s are one of my new favorite workouts.
|
| | 4 mile trail run, plus a little added mileage because, once again, I got lost....
|
| | easy 3 to Sandburg's. 4xstriders. I just did 4 because I have not been feeling good the past couple days
|
| Race: |
Dogtown 9k (5.6 Miles) 00:52:40, Place overall: 55, Place in age division: 5 | | Haven't been feeling too well lately. But I woke up this morning ready to go finish my first race that was more than 3 miles. I started out strong, and tried to keep the same pace. I didn't really like the course much, cuz it was super confusing. My head hurt like crazy during the race and when I finished I was super dizzy. But, even though I didn't do as well as I would've hoped, I still finished :)
|
| | 1.5 warm up and cool down with 6x400s
|
| | am-easy 3 with yoga afterward. I got a super duper bad cramp during the 3 miles, and fell off a bit from the big group. But it felt soooo nice to get out this morning.
pm-4 miles ice house trail run with 8xstriders. The ice house trail felt super nice. The hill was a KILLER! I almost fell so many times I couldn't keep track, and on the way down I actually hit the ground once....kinda embarrassing
I wore the wrong socks today....so I managed to get 2 blisters today, one on each foot, and they hurt pretty bad....hopefully they'll go away and be better soon
| |
| | easy 3 to arctic cat :) 4x200s afterward.
Felt really, really super sore today.....I iced and that helped a lot. I'm excited to race tomorrow. I have high expectations for myself for the race. I hope I can achieve what I am hoping to.
|
| Race: |
Hurricane All-Comers (1 mile) (1 Miles) 00:07:05 | | Ran the 1600 and the 800. I was supposed to do the 4x400, but sadly, it was cancelled. I'm not sure about my times for either of the events, (I just put a time in the box that I think I got around) but I expect them to be not so good...I didn't race very well. I need to get back into the feeling of it all, mentally and physically. I really struggle sometimes with going harder, when I feel like I'm going as hard as I can. But this race was a good learning experience and helped me to notice what I can work on this season. |
| | harts warm/cool with 4x1000s. I wasn't too happy with my times today, but I pushed hard so I guess it's good. 4:36, 48, 49, 56. I didn't really improve with each one at all, so my goal for the next time we do repeats is to get faster with each one.
weights after
Man, today was a good run. Carli and I had a blast as we touched about, 11 random subjects on our cool down. It was quite interesting....
|
| | This was my first tempo EVER! I can't come to practices on Wednesday, when we usually do tempos, so this was my first. It went a lot better than I had expected. Headed out toward Washington Fields, ran with Carli. When we started the tempo I fell behind a bit, but then ran back with her. |
| | 2x800s @ 1600 pace. My time was about 3 30. the first one I got a 3 35, and my second was 3 30. It felt nice, and this workout really helped me realize some areas in my running that I need to work on. | |
| | 1.5 warmup with 1x1000. I had to go to piano....but my time was pretty good for me. 3:32, I think that's my best one.
|
| | 4 miles down to Sullivan Park with the guys, 8xstriders. I fell behind, but knowing where I was supposed to be helped push me harder.
|
| | 4 miles up with the level 3 girls, Liz, Meskerem, and Alli. I kept up pretty well with them, and when I fell behind a little, I was able to get back up soon. Felt like a nice hard pace for me. 4x200s after. Then some hand-off practicing.
|
| | I had to be home by 3 45 to get some stuff done, so I did an easy 3 before I headed home. Felt really nice.
|
| Race: |
Hurricane Invitational (2 Miles) 00:14:59, Place overall: 38, Place in age division: 6 | | I was soooo nervous for my race today (3200). As I started, the first two laps were really strong and I set a good pace for myself. I was scared I was going to die out later, but I was able to keep the pace, and get progressively faster. My first mile came in at about a 7 18, not the best, but good for still having to go another mile. The middle couple laps are usually super duper hard for me, but today I was able to keep myself going strong. A girl from Millard was a little behind me most of the time, and she really helped push myself and keep my speed. She gained a little distance on me on the last lap, but I was able to keep my lead and she didn't pass me.
I'm pretty happy with my race today, I'm super excited to get working even harder and get some improvement in this season.
|
| | 1.5 warmup with 4x1000 and 2x300s.
I don't know about all my times....but 1000s=4:32, ?, 4:47, ? :300s=:58, ?
|
| | 4 with the level 3 girls. Only did 4 striders cuz I think I'm getting shin splints, and they hurt super bad.
|
| | am-1 warm/cool with 2x800s. Felt a bit stronger on this workout than on others. Felt really nice.
|
| | easy 4 with 4x200s after. Me, Carli, Megan, and Taylor B. did handoffs for our 200s because the 4 of us are on the team for the 4x800 tomorrow. I have some high goals for myself for the event I'm racing, and I'm super excited to race.
Oh, and my shins felt a little better yesterday and today. Still hurt just a little, but better than at the first of the week. I've been icing more than usual so that it doesn't get any worse.
|
| Race: |
Pine View Invitational (0.5 Miles) 00:03:03 | | 1 mile warmup. I ran the second leg in the 4x800. It was, Megan, me, Carli, then Taylor B. We finished under 12 minutes :) with about a 3 minute average. I felt super strong during this one and I was able to keep a good speed. This was definately my best race this season. This was my first running with a 4xteam. Our handoffs were clean, and it was all pretty good.
|
| | 1.5 warmup. 1 mile on track, sprint straights and jog curves with 5xhill sprints afterward
|
| Race: |
Snow Canyon JV (1 Miles) 00:06:51 | | So my goal was to beat my PR (6:41). I raced really hard, but missed my goal. I know what I definitely need to work on for next time. I got a HUGE side cramp 1.5 laps into the race, but I tried my best to just keep going hard.
I also ran the 400 and let's just say, I'm not a sprinter, or anything shorter than 800....I got left in the dust! But Taylor Hancock and I ended up in the same heat and we pushed each other so that was good. I stayed with her, then barely pulled ahead at the end.
So lately Carli has been faster than me in the workouts/races, and I now know what I need to work on. When we do workouts, I feel like if I'm up with Carli, I'm going out too strong and going to die. So I slow it down. I think this is what has really been keeping me back lately. I need to push up with her, and stay as long as I can in the workouts, and then I'll be more comfortable staying up with her in the races. So my game plan-Keep up with her for as long as I can, then eventually I'll increase the time I can keep up.
As a side note, I'm kinda getting shin splints in my left shin.....so I'm trying really hard to take better care of it so it doesn't get really bad
|
| | am-my best workout EVER! Pizza warm/cool. 4x1000s. These were my best set of times, and, they improved ever time, except for the last one. My times were 4 :43 :41 :33 :36. I felt very strong on this workout, and was able to push myself super hard. I stayed pretty strong and consistent. I'm really happy with how I felt and did.
pm-4 miles, 8xstriders, 2x300s. I DIED. Prolly cuz I did my workout this morning or something....but Carli and I went super easy on the 4 miles, because we were both dying. But the striders and 300s felt pretty nice.
|
| Race: |
Panther Relays (1 Miles) 00:07:40 | | Distance Medley- I ran it with all the speed demon youngsters: Addi (1200) Jacey (400) Ellie (800) and me (1600). It was sooo hot, but my time was......kinda bad. I got a 7:40, which is a whole minute slower than my PR, but it was really hot, and I feel like I pushed myself as hard as I could
4x200-Taylor H, me, Carli, Taylor B. I felt really strong, but it was weird because it seemed like I was done right when I started.
4x800-Nichole, Mia, me, Meskerem. I felt pretty good during this one. I feel like relays help me have more motivation to push harder because I have to hand off to someone.
4x400-Irene, me, Carli, Taylor B. I started pretty far behind everyone, but was able to close most of the gap between me and the girl right in front of me.
|
| | 3 miles to Arctic Cat, with 4x200s after
As it's been getting hotter this week, my body just is having trouble. My body is super sensitive to heat, and so I've been getting super bad headaches all week. I'm always really lightheaded and dizzy. I hope I adjust soon. I went 1 less mile because not only did I have a super bad headache, but my left hip has been causing me some greif lately. I've been all full of problems for a while, I still had some good workouts, but hopefully I'll be fully better and adjusted soon.
|
| | 1 mile warmup/cooldown
4x1000s. I came into this workout expecting to do just awesome because last week was my best thousand workout ever, but it was quite the contrary. I felt not so good, and my times were super bad. They were ALL over the place....
2x300s These felt nice and strong
|
| | 1.5 warmup/cooldown
Coe workout #1. As much as I hated this, it's one of my new favorite workouts. I started out too strong and had times up to 5 seconds too fast. But eventually I paced myself better and finished right on my time, or just 1 second ahead. I met all my times except for the 180 and 190. But the rest were right on
|
| Race: |
Snow Canyon Invitational (1 mile) (1 Miles) 00:07:05 | | I was feeling the PR, soooo feeling it. I was there mentallly. I started pretty strong, and as I came into the 3rd lap, Coach said to be brave and push hard. The 3rd lap is always the hardest, and I felt pretty good. I finished that lap with enough time to PR, and I was pumped to PR, but my first 150 of my last lap were way not fast enough, and set me back. So I missed my PR by 16 seconds (6 41), and I came in at a 7 05. I was super upset that I didn't get it, but I just need to keep pushing so that I can PR at DH next week.
|
| | 1.5 warmup/cooldown. My breathing was really bad today because my inhaler was out of medicine....I should've realized sooner the counter was at 0.
600, 400, 300, 200, 100- I hit all my times except for the 4/600. The 100 was sooo fast for me, it felt fantastic.
|
| | 1.5 warmup/cooldown
I hit all my times and felt like I was getting progressively faster
200-47
220-50
240-55
260-59
280-63
300-64
|
| | .75 during PE
6x400s. I could NOT break 1:40 for some reason. Usually I'm a lot faster, and I came into the 300 at a faster time each repeat, but everytime I hit 150 left, the wind was sooo bad. My times were 1: 40, 40, 40, 43, 46, 40. So, one good thing was that I was consistent, really consistent. It was so annoying that I couldn't get faster than 1:40, and that that's the time I kept hitting.
|
| | the 3 miles felt pretty good, and I ran some fartleks the last little bit since I had to leave before the 200s
|
| Race: |
Desert Hills (JV) (1 Miles) 00:06:51 | | 1600-I missed my goal by 10 seconds. My time was 6:51. I thought I was right on track, but from the splits Megan told me, my 2nd lap was way too slow.
800-Didn't do too well on this one. I got about a 3 15ish
|
| | 4 with 8xstriders
The wind was really hard today, it felt like it was blowing against us the whole time. It was a nice run, and striders after felt fantastic
|
| | I was planning on getting up early for a 5 mile morning run, but I had one of the worst headaches ever. I was helping with a project this morning, and just jogging to the other side of the park put my head up to the moon. But I did get some good stretching in for my left shin that's been really hurting lately
|
| | am-easy 3 with 4x200s-I ran the 200s by myself after the easy 3, so they were super slow. I tried to keep myself going hard even though no one was with me, but I struggled. 46, 49, 50, 45. My goal time was about 42ish, so today wasn't that good for me.
|
| Race: |
Canyon View (1 Miles) 00:06:47 | | I was super excited to race today. It was my last race of the whole season this year (I'll be out of town during Region). I feel like today was a perfect ending race to my season.
It was super windy, so I was really nervous that it would slow me down, but kept a good attitude about it
1600-I started, and kept up with Carli for the first 250 meters, then lost her because I got boxed in pretty bad between all the girls. I closed some distance. Everytime that I got to the 300 meter mark, the wind would blow way hard against me, but I was able to keep my pace and just push against it. I'm really happy with this race, I didn't PR (missed by 6 seconds) but it was definately my best race because I felt really fast even when going against the wind. I'm super happy with how I did.
3200-This race was an open race-girls, boys, and youngsters. I was feeling super strong in this one. I started getting a super bad cramp at about halfway through. Usually this would keep me back, but today I was really motivated to go harder because it was my last race. So I went harder, and it went away after another couple laps. One thing that was weird was that on about lap 5 or 6, there was this girl that I was running with from Cedar. I'd just passed her, and her friends started shouting, "elbow tag Claire, go play elbow tag!" I was super confused, but before I knew it, she was up with me, and threw her elbow into mine, really hard. This made me even more determined to beat her. So I stayed ahead, then she caught up again and cut me off. Now I was really determined. So I had one more good push, knowing that if I could just push this one ahead of her, she'd fall back. So I went around, took off, and started my last lap. And I'm happy to say I beat her :)
So even though I didn't PR today, I'm super happy with myself and my races because these 2 races were definitely my fastest and smartest races.
|
| | Today was a great run. Since most everyone was gone at BYU, Irene and I were the only girls there. We had an easy 4 run, and we started running sandberg's 3 mile route backwards, but kinda got a little lost at first. So we made it to Sandberg's, ran around it, then found a bike trail that led to the water wheel park. We took that trail up to the park, then went back on the same trail to Sandberg's, then took a trail that led up to behind wal-mart, ran down that, then back to the high school. It was pretty fun. I'm not sure the exact mileage, but my unofficial calculations say close to around 4.
|
| | 1.5 warmup. 2x800s and 2x300s. I didn't know if I was going to do the whole workout today because my shins were hurting bad all during school, but I did it and it felt pretty good. I don't know my times.... but they were alright. cooldown with Liz around the xc warmup loop.
|
| | Felt SOOOO nice to be back and running with the team. .5 barefoot warmup. Did a 30 minute run, made it a little bit more than 3 miles. This run felt so spectacular, I felt like it was a push-hard, stay-strong run for me. I was able to keep a good steady pace with Brianna and Kaelie.
|
| | .5 barefoot warmup. Went out to the tortquoise trail. This run didn't feel near as well as yesterday's, and on the way back I developed super bad stomach cramps and fell off the main group I was running with.
I didn't get to stay for the running club because I had to go to work, but I'm excited to be over the 3rd and 4th boys :) it'll be a blast
| |
| | .5 barefoot warmup w/35 min run.
Felt pretty good as we got farther into the run. I ran with Brianna, and we did the fire station loop. My calves were still hurting pretty bad from the past couple days, but felt good once we got about 1.5 miles into the run.
|
| | .5 barefoot warmupw/30 min barefoot run
barefoot runs are my absolute favorite! Today felt super nice and relaxed
|
| | .5 barefoot warmup w/35 min w/strong finish
Brianna and I started out, and turned back a little late, so we ended up going about 40 minutes. Felt really nice, and we had about a 1 mile strong finish back to the park. The air felt super fresh and clean on the run today.
|
| | 30 min run
Didn't feel very well today. I wasn't going at a very good pace or anything, but I got in a little more than 3 miles.
|
| | .5 barefoot warmup w/30 min run w/10 min tempo
I was really nervous for today's tempo run, but I actually did pretty well. Coach's talk before about going with the group really inspired me to keep up with the pack of girls that are usually not very far ahead. I was able to stay with Coach Roberts and the other girls up to the dirt mile, plus one lap. Then we started our 10 min tempo, and Carli and I fell back a bit. But we kept pushing it hard, and finished very strong. This was one of my best runs by far. I usually can't keep up with Carli and the others very long, but today I was witht ehm most of the time.
|
| | .5 barefoot warmup/30 min easy run/kids club
am-Today was an okay day. I didn't feel good, but not bad either. Kids' Club was interesting. I'm over 3rd and 4th boys....they're CRAZY, but it was fun :)
pm-it was soooo hot! I died. I had to take a couple breaks in the shade. Did some yoga when I got back, it felt fantastic
| |
| | .5 barefoot warmup;35 min run
15 min run through the neighborhood, then did 20 barefoot on the baseball field. Felt good today, got about 3.5ish miles today during the barefoot run
|
| | .5warmup;6strong3recover x3
am-the girls started the workout before I got back from my warmup, so I didn't start with them. I tried to catch up to some of the girls, and I ended up running with Brianna and Annelise. Felt good and strong today. I really enjoyed this workout
pm-I died! I had to stop a lot and take tons of breaks. but I did remember to bring a water bottle this time. I did a little barefoot running at the 2450 E park by my house, and I think I stepped on some sort of bug or something that bit/stung me because now my foot's a little swollen and it really hurts to walk....so practice tomorrow morning will be interesting
|
| | Felt nice today. I ran with Annelise, the trail was really hilly, but we killed them all :)
|
| | I was gone for a family reunion at California, I tried to get all my runs in...that didn't happen, but I did the best that I could with the time I had. easy 3-California air and fog felt so nice for my lungs. My breathing felt super good |
| | ran barefoot on the beach for a little bit. Felt fantastic! I loved it so much. I got some fartleks in too |
| | easy 3 up through town in San Diego. Felt pretty good, my breathing was a little bit raspy today |
| | .5 barefoot warmup;30 min;15 tempo
Felt okay today, I didn't stay with coach the whole time, but he did fall back and run with me and some of the others who fell off and encouraged us to get back up. It was a good push for me today. The level two girls that aren't varsity grouped up very nicely for this run. I think if we can start grouping like that more often, we'll be able to push each other harder and will improve together.
| |
| | .5 barefoot warmup;30 min;6 min test;kids' club
Felt okay today. I finished 1 full lap with 486 extra. I wasn't too far behind Carli and Kaelie, but I still wish I 'd pushed up with them.
|
| | .5 warmup;40 min run;street and barefoot
Started with 20 minutes through the neighborhood, and ended with 20 min barefoot on the grass. My legs have been killing all this week, so I took it slightly slower than usual.
|
| | am-50 min w/hard finish
Today wasn't the best, but I felt pretty good too. My legs weren't hurting very much, so that's good
pm-30 min
felt nice, I went when it was super overcast so it wasn't too hot
other-yoga! Felt fantastic!
|
| | 45 min w/5x4min cruise intervals
Met up at the high school today with Kaelie and Brianna because Kaelie and I had HOPE squad training we had to go to. Felt pretty good. We took turns leading the group. Today was a nice push for me, I was able realize some of the areas I can definitely work on this season
|
| | am-.5 barefoot warmup;45 min w/20 tempo
I was super nervous, maybe even a little bit doubtful, coming into this run. But I kept a positive attitude about it, and decided that there was NO way I wasn't staying up with my group. I was determined to stay with them for the whole time. And... I DID! thinking about it just makes me smile :) I love the feeling I get after a good run. Carli helped me out a lot today on it because there were just a few times that I fell back a couple feet, and Carli would help me get back up with our group. But I felt pretty good, and this was by far the best tempo ever.
pm-20 easy minutes
I couldn't go the full 30 because it got too dark, and so I had to head home, but it felt really nice
|
| | am-.5barefoot warmup;30 min;30/30 workout;kids' club
My goal was to get in all the 30/30 sets that would fit with my time for today, so that meant 20. I felt really good today. The group I'm with was going 5 cones per "on" set, and 2.5 for the "off". I was able to stick with the group the whole time, which was nice. At the very end, it was just me, Carli, and Coach Roberts. We hit our distance everytime spot on, then Carli dropped back a bit, and Coach encouraged me to get 6 cones on the last set, which I did, so that was good :) Great workout, good job everyone!
|
| | am-.5barefoot warmup;40 min-20 grass, 20 road
Felt pretty nice today, especially from the workout yesterday
pm-30 min
Went with Irene, it was SOOO hot! But it felt nice to get out there
|
| | am-.5 barefoot warmup;cruise intervals-1,2,3x2
Wasn't expecting the workout to be as hard as it was. It was nice having both of the coaches there to help push us. There were a couple that I pushed it and stayed with Maskerem and Josie, but when I wasn't with them, I was toward the middle or back of the group. But overall it was a good workout, I think I just need to learn how to distribute my speed evenly for next time.

| | am-I woke up at 4 30 today and met Liz at the high school at 5 so that we could get our run in before our family plans. Felt really, really nice

Couldn't run this morning because we got up early to pack up everything. I ran when I got back around 2, and it was SO hot! Just went 20 because I wasn't feeling too well at all.
|
| | am-.5warmup;45min w/20 tempo
felt alright today. Stayed up with Carli for the first half of the tempo, but I got a really bad side cramp and fell off a bit. Got back up toward the end though
|

Did this one super early with Kaelie and Kaytlin. Felt alright, wasn't as strong as it prolly should've been.
|
| | am-50 min w/strong finish
Ran with a bunch of girls up at youth conference. Nichole helped to pace Kaelie and I during our minutes, which was nice. It was really fast for me, but I kept up and it felt strong
|
| | pm-30 min
was really hot, but there was a breeze part of the time so that's good
|
| | am-.5warmup;45min w/15 tempo
Our tempo went down to 15 this week so that we could keep a stronger pace during all of it. Struggled staying with Coach, Carli, and Kaelie, but I stuck with them the whole time
pm-30 min
it was soooo hot! but it felt nice to get out and running with the girls this afternoon

Definitely wasn't my best race ever. My time was 24:38. I was aiming for about 2 minutes less than the time I ended up with. The course was.....not my favorite. It seemed to go by really slow, but it was pretty even, so that's good. It felt nice to get out and do a race since I haven't done one for a while. It helped me know what I need to work on for this xc season.
|
| | am-.5 warmup;50 minw/longhills&strong finish
Today felt very good. There was a good group of us on our way out, then the group was bigger a little after we turned around.
|
| | am-30 min
Okay run for me, my right heel hurt a little so I iced when I got home
|
| | am-.5 warmup;45 min w/15 tempo
Tempo felt okay, there was a nice group of us, so it was easier to stay together as a group and keep our pace

After my run, my I.T. band started hurting, so I iced it multiple times. I hope it feels better before camp
|
| | am-.25 warmup
I started to run an easy warmup, but the pain started to bother me again so I just cut it short and did only .25.
other-ice and stretch
didn't run the workout :( this workout is my favorite ever. I iced my I.T. band and stretched it really good a couple times during the day, but it's still bothering me a little.I don't know if it's something that if I run on it, it will injure it more or not, but I don't want to take the chance, so I didn't run today, and then I'll run tomorrow afternoon up at camp.
|
| | pm-20 min
Didn't go the full 30 because I wanted to make sure my I.T. band didn't hurt to bad, but it ended up feeling great, even after I got back :)

| | am-40 min w/LONG hills
Felt FANTASTIC!
pm-30 min
Felt really good
|
| | am-60 min w/hard finish
Felt really nice, I wasn't too far behind Alli, so I caught her and stayed with her the rest of the way. then Caroline and I sped up a bit and did the hard finish, it felt really nice and was a good push for me
pm-30 min
TREASURE! some of the team did the Treasure trail run, which is c-r-a-z-y! but it was soo worth it. the girls went down 10 minutes, up 14, then ran around up at the top for 6. I felt suprisingly strong on this trail. it's kind of a straight up and down, but I was able to keep a good pace during it all. I'm so glad I did it.
|
| | am-30 min
I was sooo sore from yesterday, it was pretty hard for me today
|
| | am-45 min w/20 tempo;striders
Today was a huge struggle for me. But it helped me to realize that if I can just give it one more push to stay with the group, it's easier in the end because then I don't get way behind. The group helped me a lot by encouraging me to stick with them, so that was nice.
|
| | am-45 min w/long hills
Got up super early to go on a run because I couldn't make it to practice. Felt nice, was a bit slower than usual for me

PV Time Trial #1 (2 Miles) 00:15:29, Place overall: 8 | | am-PV Time Trial #1
My goal for this race was to get in the top 7 for the girls. I was sooo determined. I really want to race varsity this year
Started out strong with a good group of us girls. But eventually most of them fell off. Carli and I stuck together the whole time, which was nice because it was a good push for me. I was in spot number 7 when I started the last lap, but then Caroline had a great kick and passed me, Carli, and Megan. When we got the last about 200 meters, Carli and I were battling it out, and it was a really close one. I finished .2 seconds in front of her, but I found out later that I kind of ran her into a tree a little bit toward the end....(not on purpose) So I felt really bad about that. Carli prolly would've beat me if that hadn't happened.
From this race I learned that I can actually push a lot harder than I thought I could. I wanted top 7 today, but was scared to want it because I didn't know if I could get it. But I raced positive, and even though I barely missed it, I can tell that this race is gonna be a big help to next week's race if I can just remember how I felt after today and how close I was to my goal.
Good job everyone!

| | am-.5 warmup;50 min;5x1000s

I didn't finish the whole workout today. I was disappointed, but my inhaler was all out, and I did not feel very good. I was starting to get really dizzy, and figured it would be best to just cut it a little bit short. I don't know what any of my times were though

Did not do near as well as I'd hoped. 50 seconds slower than my PR, and 3 spots behind where I wanted to out of our team's girls. But, I raced my definite hardest, so I'm happy with it. I'm keeping a positive attitude in hopes that I can earn a varsity spot this year. After the race I threw up a little bit, and my right hip hurt really bad. But it felt nice to get the first race out and done

Goal time-5:26. I stayed pretty consistent. times were: 5:21 :10 :20 :15: 25. I hit right by my goal time each one, so that was good. I didn't know if I was going to do the whole workout today because I haven't been feeling very well this week. I've had a headache everyday, and my legs have been killing. But this was a way good confidence-builder for me because it turned out much better than I had expected. :)

Desert Relays-Caroline, Megan and I were a team. I was the third leg. My goal for the race was to not let anyone pass me. I ran the whole thing with Piper, she's a speedy one for sure. She really helped to push me a lot. Our team came in 4th for the high school girls.

didn't go to morning practice because I've been sick the past couple days and needed a break. It's also been hard for me to breathe
pm-45 min
45 min through the school because it was so stormy outside and we couldn't practice. Had fun running through the halls, fell off the group a couple times, but I found them :)

Legs killed, and my breathing was really bad
pm-10minwarm;3x1000w/3minrecovery
My legs were really hurting bad all day at school, along with a new pain I've developed in my knee and hip. My breathing has also been really bad. So I did 3 1000s, time goal: 5:36. Times, 5:18 :23 :11. So I was hitting time about right. I hope I can feel better and race well this week at SUU.
|
| | pm-40min w/steady state 20 min
Felt alright for the 10 warmup, started the steady state, and it was really hard. I feel like I pushed through the pain alright, but my knee has just really been bothering me. I hope that it's just this week that's rotten, and that I'll be back in the groove of it all next week and not feel so bad. But it's weeks like this that just really help me know what to do to improve.
|
| | pm-40min:pre-race w/4x200s
Felt SOOOO good today! My knee didn't hurt at all! and my legs finally stopped killing me :) 200s after felt nice. Coach Roberts came back to direct the 2nd group of girls where to go at a turn, and I went with him when he went to start getting back up to that first group. It was a pretty fast pace for me, but it felt nice to be just cruisin' along without hurting too bad. We closed a lot of distance, and caught up to Megan, then the three of us ran a good solid pace the rest of the way to Sandberg's. Awesome run for me

SUU (3 Miles) 00:23:55, Place overall: 18, Place in age division: 4 | | RACE-The race was not very good for me, I was about 2 minutes slower than my PR, and not where I wanted to be at all. Stuck with Brianna E for the first couple laps, then she fell off. I started my kick in the third lap, thinking I was almost done, but still had a whole 'nother lap, and so I died alot the last lap and Annelise, and Brianna L. caught up to me. I hope that I can just get where I want, I really want to be doing so much better than I have been these past couple races. But I finished 18th overall, and I think that my main goals for this season are as follows: Race at least one varsity race, and get top 10 at Region. I'm working for it, and it's reachable if I keep working hard

Indian run: #2! Felt really good, and we stayed together the whole time very well. I think that runs like this will really help us group better during races
pm-3xsandy hills;4xstriders
Ran to the sand hills, and ran the first two hill repeats with the girls. by the time I was done with the second, I was so dizzy and couldn't breathe. It's never been so hard for me to breathe ever before. So I took a break to catch my breath and clear my head while the girls did their theird, then I joined again on the last one. The last one was better for me, I was still struggling to breathe even on the way back to the high school, and my stomache hurt super bad, so I did 4xstriders, which felt great. These past couple weeks have been weird for me.

Not a good race at all for me. But I talked to Coach afterward, and something I really could work on is being more mentally strong. I need to not let the little things (hard time breathing, hurting legs, etc.) get me down. BE POSITIVE! I'm really gonna work on it, and go into every race, workout, run, etc. with only positive thoughts.
|
| | pm-5xsandy hills
Carli and I ran this one together, and it really helped me to push. Last week when we did these I had a really bad breathing problem and felt like I was going to die, so I was nervous to do it this week, especially adding another hill on top. But I only thought positive things, and the workout ended up being great for me :) I was able to do all 5 hills, and it felt really nice. Carli and I went back under the overpass and on main street, and when we got back to the high school, everyone was saying, "We were just getting ready to come look for you" "where've you been?!" etc. But, Carli and I still had 2 hills left when the girls were done, so that took time, plus we stopped at the park on the way back.....so it just took us a little bit longer
|
| | pm-45 min w/20 steady state w/striders
Felt pretty nice. Was able to push through this one. During striders Carli really helped me reallize some things to work on with my form. Especially the motion of my arms. Instead of swinging them across my body side to side, I need to keep them going forward and back.

I really, REALLY wanted to walk out of this race with a medal, but I ended up far away from that by the end of my race....but overall, I'm super happy with my race. It wasn't very good place or time wise, but I feel like I was able to push really hard the whole time. It was sooooo hot! I was dying, but tried to just focus on something else other than the heat. I caught myself a couple times letting myself settle and get comfortable, but the second I realized it I kicked it up a notch. I felt pretty good after my race, just super hot. I felt alright for about 20 minutes after, I was just super tired. but then when everyone was out getting lunch, I ate part of the sandwich I brought, and felt like I was going to die. I got the worst stomach ache, and then I got a headache, and I was starting to feel really dehydrated. I tried to get some fluids into me, but it just made my stomach hurt worse. The bus ride home was miserable because I was not feeling well and it was so hot. But I when I got home, I just took a nap and that helped a lot. I still have a bit of a stomach ache, and it's hard to breathe. But I do feel good with the race. I'm happy, and it was sooo worth it! Great job to everyone! We totally dominated :)
