Today for the first day of Summer training I ran a 2 mile workout and a .5 mile warm-up. I got a side cramp on the way back of my workout and took a short walk that helped it to go away.

I ran 2 miles again today. My goal was to not walk. The running club for the little kids was tuns'o'fun! I'm in charge of 1st and 2nd grade girls with Megan, Josie, and Allie.

I ran with Chancie for the workout. We pushed each other and on the last lap we picked up the pace a notch every little bit 'til we were sprinting at the end. I loved running in the grass with no shoes. It felt so great.

I was planning on running 2 miles today after I got home from the 4th year overnighter for Girls' Camp, but we played a game (similar to fugitive) when it was really dark and nobody could see a thing. I was running and tripped over a girl lying in the middle of the path. I twisted my knee funny and now it hurts to walk on it. So I don't think I'll be running today. Hopefully I can on Monday.

I ran 3 miles today with Brianna. It was a lot harder than last week, but we didn't walk at all. Right at the very end the boys that ran 4 miles were close behind us. We decided that we couldn't let them finish before us, so we sprinted super super hard to the end and finished first.

Ran 3 miles today on the region course. I kept up with the varsity girls for about 1 and 2/3 miles. It felt nice. Even after I fell back a little I wasn't too far behind them.

Ran 2 miles this morning from my house to the D.I. and back. I timed myself and when I reached 1 mile I was at 9 minutes. I obviously was going slower than usual, so I went really fast for the last mile and came back with an 8 minute mile.

I just got back from Girls' Camp. There was a group of us that were planning on running while up there, but just never got around to it. We did a relay and I ran a little bit in that, but I could hardly breathe, I'm pretty sure I'm going to die at the High Altitude Camp.

So today was the first day in about a week that I've run. It was so hard. I got 1 mile and 895 meters on the workout today. When the fifteen minutes was over I had trouble breathing and I was seeing dark spots. Brianna was too so we walked pretty much the entire way back to the elementary school. We jogged a little bit, but not very much.

So for the 30/30 workout today I was supposed to run 95 meters. I got in at least twenty-two sets, but I lost track and I'm not sure. It's somewhere around there. 

The race for the kids' club today was fun. Some of those kids can book it fast! I couldn't even believe it. It was pretty fun.   

Oh, and the reason I was freaking out during Coach's talk today was because I sat in gum. On my new pants. And it won't come out. :(  I'm really really sad.

Today felt nice with 2 miles of grass runs, and 1 mile of striders. I don't feel sore from yesterday, although my left ankle hurts really bad. It just feels like it needs to pop, but it won't.

I'm leaving for youth conference tomorrow, and then going to Idaho. So I'll be missing about 3 weeks of practice. I've decided I'll just run on the high school track while I'm in Idaho. That way I'm not coming back to practice totally unprepared and out of shape.

Today was the first day that I've ran since leaving for vacation last week (hang my head in shame). I went to a high school track and ran 2 miles. I was supposed to run 3, but since I haven't run for a while (again, hang my head in shame) I didn't want to jump back into 3 just quite yet. I'll work back up to it.

AM- We did 4x1000 repeats. I forgot to look at what time I was supposed to get, so I just went off of Brianna's time, which was 6:47. I ran with Brianna and Chancie. We pushed each other and it helped me to stay up with them during the workout. On the way back to the school I had trouble keeping up with the group of girls in front of me. My times- 1) 5:37  2) 5:56  3) 5:57  4) 6:16. I think that I did well for my first time back in a while, but it was still pretty hard for me, and I had a headache after practice.

PM- I turned around at about halfway into the 3 mile run because I forgot my inhaler back at the school. After the run I went and did weights. I feel like I'm a lot more wimpier than I though I was. Hopefully in time it'll get better.

I woke up sore from the workouts yesterday. I ran 3 miles and striders today. It felt nice, and I was able to keep up with Coach Roberts and the varsity girls for 2 miles and 1 lap. Even after I fell behind a little, I wasn't very far behind. Kids' club today was good.

Did the 30/30 workout and got 16. On the mile cool-down with Megan my hip started hurting really bad. I sat down to stretch after we got back, and it was super hard to stand back up because my hip killed. It took about all the strength I had to run a warm-up with the kids and run the first race during kids' club. Now it hurts just to walk on it and I'm icing it every 10 minutes so that hopefully it's better by tomorrow.

am-Hip hurt during the warm-up and agilities. I decided to do only 2 miles today, but I didn't even make it out of the parking lot because my hip started screaming at me. I want to take it easy the next little while because I want to run at camp, and because I really want my hip to heal so that it doesn't become a bigger problem later.

Had such a great time up at camp! It was a blast!

I found out that it's my S.I. joint that's been hurting so bad I can't run. I'm going to research how to help it get better. So I didn't run at camp but I learned a lot of techniques and stuff that will help me become a better runner. I really enjoyed getting to know all of the teammates better through team building activities, relays, and skits. This was a really good experience for me and I'm looking forward to getting to know all of the team better this year.

I looked and looked and found a runner that I admire. Andres Arroyo, a senior in high school last year. He tried out for the track team in 6th grade to get in shape for baseball, but didn't make it. He was determined to eventually make the team and ran a mile around his neighborhood everyday. He tried out again in 8th grade, and made it with a 6 minute mile. Andres is now the 6th fastest 800m high school runner ever with a time of 1:47.79! His 1600m PR is 4:04.45, and 3200m PR is 9:01.04. I chose Andrew Arroyo because even though he didn't make the team in 6th grade, he kept trying, training, and pushing himself as hard as he could to make the team. And now, he's broken records, and done great things.

My first day running in 2 weeks. I only did a half mile warm-up and then 1 mile with Brianna. My S.I. joint felt TONS better, but my knees hurt a little while I was running. Probably because I haven't ran in a while.

Today was a lot better than yesterday. I did 1.5 mile warm-up, and then on the 1/1 workout I did 5 with a 1 mile cool-down. I took it easy today because I'm trying to ease back into running so that I don't re-injure myself right after I start feeling better.

Last day of kids' club! We had a fun time playing games, and giving out shirts/awards. While we were playing red rover the other team called Helga right over. Everyone was like, who's that? Then they said it was me, because that's my new name. So yeah, now I'm known to them as Helga. . . . I'm curious as to where that came from.

So, I had  H.O.P.E. training form 8-8 today, and so I went early with Kaelie and did our 1.5 warm-up before everyone got there, and then coach timed us while everyone else ran their warm-up. It was really hard to pace myself during the time trial. I did soooooooo bad! So bad! I can't even believe it. I'm so upset with my time, I'm not even going to say what I got. But to give the general idea, I did better on a 2 mile race when I was in the junior kids' club. . . but to plead my case, I've been injured the past couple weeks and this week has been my first week back. I'm just going to work super hard and then hopefully by the next one I can do a TON better.

The only good thing about the time trial was that I feel I did well on the little hill. I pushed up it and didn't have to slow down.

I feel like today was one of the best days ever. We met out at the Little Valley Park. I did 3 barefoot grass miles with Alli (which was tons'o'fun!), and then ran to the hills and did 30 second and 1 minute hills. I did 2 30seconds, and 4 1minutes. On the way back to the park, Alli and I were saying that we could push a little harder for the way back because, the sooner we got back, the sooner we could play on the playground equipment. :) But seriously, that was the coolest playground I've ever seen. Today was definitely a good day.

While running the grass miles, I stepped on something sharp. I looked and pulled a big black thorn out of the ball of my foot. Now my foot hurts when I walk, or there's pressure on it. Hopefully it goes away soon!

am- Ran 5 miles into Green Springs, and then did the 4 two hundreds that added an extra mile. This was the first time that I've ran 5 miles that's not warm-up and workout,  but it was suprisingly easier than I thought it would be.

pm-Race at Cedar. I feel that I did very well. I'm happy with my time and that I pushed myself to go as hard as I could. I got 9th place out of the Pine View girls.

Racing made me excited for the cross country season this year. There's a lot of good potential coming from the team. Good job everyone!

am-Raced today at Hurricane. I felt sooo good at this race. I cut down my time form the Tuesday race by about 2 minutes. I got about 23:23, but I'm not sure about the exact time. I finished 4th out of the Pine View JV girls, and 21st out of all the JV girls. The course was so easy and fast, and I loved how most of it was concrete. The only thing I need to work on would be my final burst at the end. When I enter the last lap, I feel like I'm going as hard as I can. I'm going so hard I can't believe it, and then some girls pass me up in the last 100 meters. One of my goals for this season is to be able to push even harder than I think at the end.

am-Ran 3 miles today and did about five minutes of plyos then went home to get ready.

pm-I got out late and so I didn't run the warm-up. I think I'm getting shin splints and it hurt really bad while I was running. So before I went home I grabbed a bag of ice to put on my leg. While my leg was being iced it felt fine, but once it lost all the coldness, it started to hurt again. :( Hopefully it'll get better so that I can race on Saturday at SUU.

I ran for the first time in more than two weeks this morning. It was pretty hard on my knees since I haven't run for a while, but my shin splints are totally better. I just did 1 1/2 mile warmup, 2Ks.

The car wash was super, super fun. It's always a good time hanging out with the team. Glad to be back =)

So I did AWFUL at the race. AWFUL! But it was my second day back from injury and I was having a really hard time. And since I haven't been running for a couple weeks, my asthma was really bad at the race. I couldn't keep my breathing under control, and I started having an asthma attack about 1ish miles into the race. I had to stop a couple times to get my breathing in line, and it hurt really, really bad. So, even though I got like my worst time ever, I feel like it was one of my best races because races are a time to show your strengths, not weaknesses.

I was sooo excited to head up to the Nebo race. I had a blast with the whole team and getting to know everyone better.

I am happy with my race, at the same time I'm not though. I was close to breaking my PR, and I could've broke it, but I wasn't even sprinting at the end of the race because I thought that there was a whole other lap left on the track. So I was a little frustrated, but I ran hard during the race, so I'm okay with it. Karlie helped me so much in the race. We were right next to each other the entire time. Once one of us started pushing forward to pass people, the other one would go with them. It was a great race, and an awesome course. It went by so fast.

am-Ran the state course today. That park is HUGE! I was so lost. We did 3 3/3s, 5 hills, and 5 sprints. Plus a warm-up and cool-down.

pm-Michigans. I ran with Karlie. I didn't do as well as I would've hoped, but I pushed myself pretty hard. The second time we entered the track for the 2 laps, I had trouble pushing up to a race speed. I didn't go as hard then as I could've.

pm-I just went 2 today instead of 3 because I had a super bad headache. I came back and rested while I waited for the other girls to come back. I still had a headache, but I did my 4x200s. I've really been working on my sprints, so I want to be able to sprint harder at the end of the race tomorrow.

Race-I felt sooo good. I got a little worried before the race because before we went up to the starting line, I got a really bad sharp pain in my knee and it hurt super bad. But it went away before the race started. My goal for this race was just to beat my time from the last time we ran this course, which was 25:22. I love running with Karlie. We both just push each other to pass that person in front of us, or to go harder up the hill. Close to the end of the race, Coach said, "you girls are close to the top 20, push hard." We sped up a lot, and we were able to pass a bunch of girlsl Usually on the last 800 I go a little faster, then sprint on the last 400. I usually can't keep up a good sprint on the last 400 and I get passed by girls. But this time, I was able to keep a nice fast sprint, and I was the one passing people on the track. =) I was so happy. When the timer came into view, I saw it 22:40, 22:41, etc. I thought in my head, "Go harder, PR, PR" I pushed even harder, and I PR'd by 45 seconds. I'm so happy with my race. I came in 22nd overall, and 2nd from Pine View.

Can I say, Congrats to the JV boys! We totally dominated that race with 7 Pine View boys in the top 10. Good job everyone! Keep up the good work.

I absolutely loved this course. It went by super duper fast. I am pretty happy with my race, especially considering that I PRed by 5 seconds. =)  I ran with Karlie. At one point, Karlie and I were running right next to each other and apparently this Desert Hills girl wanted to get past us because she pushed right through the middle of us and took off. Right then, Karlie and I started going harder, we were NOT going to let her beat us. I finished pretty strong, and I feel good about the race. Good job everyone!

Rode up with the team for state =) When we got to the hotel, we did a 3 mile run with striders. Felt nice, but I was having a really hard time breathing.

Went to the morning run with the varsity girls and Irene. Did an easy 3. Today felt sooo nice. It was definately one of the better runs.

The teams did GREAT up at state. Boys came in 3rd with Byron in 2nd overall, and girls came in 8th! Good job guys. You definately worked hard and pushed yourself to get where you've gotten to now.

5x800s today. It was really hard for me today. I was really struggling. I pushed hard though, and ended up with times of 3:40, 52, 53, 36, 56. It felt like everytime I was improving, but really, I only improved 1 time. Maybe just because I was struggling, and so it just felt like I was going harder with each one.

1.5 workout warmup with 4x400s. This was my most consistent workout of the entire season. My times were 1:28, 1:30, 1:29, and 1:29. Usually my times bounce all over the place, but these were all within three seconds of each other, I was super happy. .75 mile cooldown.

Race report-Felt AWESOME! My goal was to get sub 7. I wanted to stick around 1:30-1:40 for each lap, which I did. It went by so fast, all of a sudden I was coming up on the beginning on the last lap and I was like, WOW! I'm almost done! I just gave it all I had. This was one of my best races/time trials this season. It felt so good. I'll admit I was really worried for it because my legs hurt super duper bad during school today.

I'm not sure what my time is exactly because it wasn't posted on the board, I'm not sure why. But Mitch said that I finished around then. I did not do very well at this race. I tried super duper hard, but I did not feel well. I woke up with no appetite, bad cramps, and feeling dizzy. I tried to stomach down some food anyway, but I didn't get very much. I was really nervous to race. It was really cold, but once you got going, it felt great. I loved running through the water, that was my favorite part. I stayed with Carli and Megan for about half the race, then started to lose them. I felt so dizzy, and whenever I would try to start going faster, I got this weird sensation I can't really describe. Coming across the finish felt so good to be done, but I felt like I was going to fall over. I got past the line just far enough to almost hit a pole of the Gatorade tent, and a lady had to come stop me before I did...kinda embarrassing. I felt a little better after putting my head between my knees and closing my eyes. Everything was spinning for a while, but then it went away. I'm happy, but also not happy with my race. I'm glad I was able to push even though I felt rotten, but disappointed I didn't go harder. Nice race everyone, you did spectacular =)

Great job today. Everybody has poor races. Don't get down on yourself. Learn from this race and use it to do better next time. It was not a failure because a certain Chinese Proverb says, "Failure is not falling down but refusing to get back up." P.S - Your official time was 23:56.5.

My first run in a month! It felt very nice to get out again. I just went 2 miles today and it was really hard for me since I haven't run in a while, so I took it nice and slow. And I saw Paul while I was on my run.

I woke up today with a weird pain in my lower lower back. It hurt really bad, even just when I was walking, but I decided to try running anyway. I got to the top of my street, and went back home because I realized that the pain I was feeling was my i.t. band. I pulled it during the summer and I was out from running for a while. I'm super bummed, but I'm going to have to take it easy for a while so that it gets better and doesn't put me out for a long time. I really want to run, but don't want to take chances so I'm just icing for a while until it feels better.
