Had such a great time up at camp! It was a blast!

I found out that it's my S.I. joint that's been hurting so bad I can't run. I'm going to research how to help it get better. So I didn't run at camp but I learned a lot of techniques and stuff that will help me become a better runner. I really enjoyed getting to know all of the teammates better through team building activities, relays, and skits. This was a really good experience for me and I'm looking forward to getting to know all of the team better this year.

I looked and looked and found a runner that I admire. Andres Arroyo, a senior in high school last year. He tried out for the track team in 6th grade to get in shape for baseball, but didn't make it. He was determined to eventually make the team and ran a mile around his neighborhood everyday. He tried out again in 8th grade, and made it with a 6 minute mile. Andres is now the 6th fastest 800m high school runner ever with a time of 1:47.79! His 1600m PR is 4:04.45, and 3200m PR is 9:01.04. I chose Andrew Arroyo because even though he didn't make the team in 6th grade, he kept trying, training, and pushing himself as hard as he could to make the team. And now, he's broken records, and done great things.

My first day running in 2 weeks. I only did a half mile warm-up and then 1 mile with Brianna. My S.I. joint felt TONS better, but my knees hurt a little while I was running. Probably because I haven't ran in a while.

Today was a lot better than yesterday. I did 1.5 mile warm-up, and then on the 1/1 workout I did 5 with a 1 mile cool-down. I took it easy today because I'm trying to ease back into running so that I don't re-injure myself right after I start feeling better.

Last day of kids' club! We had a fun time playing games, and giving out shirts/awards. While we were playing red rover the other team called Helga right over. Everyone was like, who's that? Then they said it was me, because that's my new name. So yeah, now I'm known to them as Helga. . . . I'm curious as to where that came from.

So, I had  H.O.P.E. training form 8-8 today, and so I went early with Kaelie and did our 1.5 warm-up before everyone got there, and then coach timed us while everyone else ran their warm-up. It was really hard to pace myself during the time trial. I did soooooooo bad! So bad! I can't even believe it. I'm so upset with my time, I'm not even going to say what I got. But to give the general idea, I did better on a 2 mile race when I was in the junior kids' club. . . but to plead my case, I've been injured the past couple weeks and this week has been my first week back. I'm just going to work super hard and then hopefully by the next one I can do a TON better.

The only good thing about the time trial was that I feel I did well on the little hill. I pushed up it and didn't have to slow down.

So I didn't do the full 6 miles today. I took it a little bit easier and just ran down to where the trail starts and back. Coach said that equaled about 3.5 miles total.

I feel like today was one of the best days ever. We met out at the Little Valley Park. I did 3 barefoot grass miles with Alli (which was tons'o'fun!), and then ran to the hills and did 30 second and 1 minute hills. I did 2 30seconds, and 4 1minutes. On the way back to the park, Alli and I were saying that we could push a little harder for the way back because, the sooner we got back, the sooner we could play on the playground equipment. :) But seriously, that was the coolest playground I've ever seen. Today was definitely a good day.

While running the grass miles, I stepped on something sharp. I looked and pulled a big black thorn out of the ball of my foot. Now my foot hurts when I walk, or there's pressure on it. Hopefully it goes away soon!

am- I got some faster K times than the last time we did them, but the last time they were more consisitent. This week's times were: 5:00, 5:18, 5:46, 5:39, 5:45, 5:35.

pm- I was doing some family stuff and so I only made it to the weights and plyos.

am- Ran 5 miles into Green Springs, and then did the 4 two hundreds that added an extra mile. This was the first time that I've ran 5 miles that's not warm-up and workout,  but it was suprisingly easier than I thought it would be.

pm-Race at Cedar. I feel that I did very well. I'm happy with my time and that I pushed myself to go as hard as I could. I got 9th place out of the Pine View girls.

Racing made me excited for the cross country season this year. There's a lot of good potential coming from the team. Good job everyone!

am-I ran 3 miles with Megan. Felt very good and was nice to run in the cool weather.

pm-I had to leave early again, so I ran with the junior kids to some hills and ran some of those, then ran home.

pm-Super super hot today. I ran a .5 warm-up with the team, then 1 mile before our workout. I got in 5 1/1s, and then ran a .5 mile cool-down.

am-Raced today at Hurricane. I felt sooo good at this race. I cut down my time form the Tuesday race by about 2 minutes. I got about 23:23, but I'm not sure about the exact time. I finished 4th out of the Pine View JV girls, and 21st out of all the JV girls. The course was so easy and fast, and I loved how most of it was concrete. The only thing I need to work on would be my final burst at the end. When I enter the last lap, I feel like I'm going as hard as I can. I'm going so hard I can't believe it, and then some girls pass me up in the last 100 meters. One of my goals for this season is to be able to push even harder than I think at the end.

am-Ran 3 miles today and did about five minutes of plyos then went home to get ready.

pm-I got out late and so I didn't run the warm-up. I think I'm getting shin splints and it hurt really bad while I was running. So before I went home I grabbed a bag of ice to put on my leg. While my leg was being iced it felt fine, but once it lost all the coldness, it started to hurt again. :( Hopefully it'll get better so that I can race on Saturday at SUU.

I couldn't race today. =(  I hope that if I am careful now, I'll be better by the next race. 

But the entire team did AWESOME! I know that there's going to be a lot of great things coming from the team this year, and I know we're going to dominate this season. Keep up the good work everyone.
